Naoko Tosa

New media artist

He advocates "cultural computing" that expresses the beauty of Japan that has been discovered and accumulated in history using cutting-edge technology, and is producing works.
Obtained a doctor of engineering (University of Tokyo) in emotional AI research. After working as a Fellow Artist at the MIT Department of Architecture Center for Advanced Visual Studies, which inherits Bowhouse, he also works as a professor at the Art Innovation Industry-Academia Collaborative Course at the Graduate School of Comprehensive Survival, Kyoto University.
Inspired by Western art and technology works of the 1980s, video art produced at the age of 25 was collected at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. After that, he won the L'Oreal Grand Prize Grand Prize for "Interactive Poem" that interacts with AI and poetry (1997).
Winner of UNESCO Digital Intangible Heritage 2nd Place for "ZEN Computer" by Sansui Zen (2004)
At the 2012 Yeosu Expo in South Korea, she won the Distinguished Service Award by swimming a dragon on the LED screen of the main street of 350m x 30m.
Received the Good Design Award (2014) for "Sound of Ikebana" that creates the shape of ikebana from voice.
Rinpa 400th Anniversary Projection Mapping Tosa Rinpa announced (2015).
As a cultural envoy of the Japan Cultural Envoy in 2016, "Sound of Ikebana" was aired every night for one month on more than 60 billboards in New York Times Square to exchange culture. You can see the works by dedicating "silence" and "sansui on the clouds" to Kennin-ji Temple in Kyoto Gozan.
